Fauna species protection

On the area of the forest district there are seven nests with protection zones. These are six nests of white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) and one of red kite (Milvus milvus). Populations of particular species are stable and nest are systematically inhabited.

On the area of a Forest District existence of many protected animals has been recorded. Worth mentioning are: 2 species of insects, 12 amphibians, 7 reptiles, 125 birds and 28 mammals. In "Polish Red Book of Animals" includes 7 species (3 insects, 1 amphibian, 2 reptiles, 10 birds, 4 mammals - f.ex. wolf and Barbastella barbastellus).

 

Flora species protection

On the areas of Bytnica Forest District the following protected and rare species have been recorded:

- Fungi: cauliflower mushroom Sparassis crispa, Old Man of the Woods Strobilomyces strobilaceus, common stinkhorn Phallus impudicus

- Lichen: little scraping Cladonia and Iceland mossCetraria islandica

- Bryophyte: 16 species

- Pteridophytes: 9 species

- Gymnospermous: 2 species

- Angiosperms: 49 species including snowdrops Galanthus nivalis, cheddar pink Dianthus caesius and guelder rose Viburnum opulus.
